Abstract

The task of approaching and understanding the popular sabers of a particular human group is
intriguing given the complexity of the relations established between the local population and
the environment in which they live. The main purpose of this work is to identify and systematize
knowledge, beliefs and productive practices, describing aspects of the ecosystem and the relationships
of people with it in the locality of Pé do Morro. The method adopted was dialogues
(informal conversations), without the use of a questionnaire, involving six (6) residents of the
locality. It was possible to identify with popular names 85 types of Caatinga plants and the
traditional use of Coco Palmeira. This task brings us closer to the way of life of the people,
directing our gaze to the ways of making and living agroecology in the locality of Pé do Morro
closely linked to popular knowledge, practices and beliefs.
