Abstract

The herbalists is a social actor of great importance in the health-disease process, the main
objective of this work was to survey the medicinal plants commercialized in the city of Almenara,
Minas Gerais, as well as to characterize the authors involved, in order to promote the
registration and The recovery of knowledge about plants, as there is a progressive tendency
of loss in knowledge about medicinal plants. There were 112 commercialized species distributed
in 48 families. The most mentioned preparation form was tea, and the leaf as part (plant
organ) most used for the preparation. In relation to the versatility, 20 plants presented results
of relative importance (IR> 1.00). Regarding the informants consensus factor (FCI), the therapeutic
indication that reached the maximum FCI = 1 was the category related to mental and
behavioral disorders.
