Legal Reserve as potential areas for agroforestry in Paraíba Valley

Abstract

Agroforestry Systems (SAFs) is a technique capable of producing food diversity
in large quantities, preserving biodiversity and enabling the environmental regularization of
rural properties. Thus, this work aims to present a preliminary mapping that points out areas
for Legal Reserve (RL) with potential for the implementation of Agroforestry Systems (SAF),
specifically in the Vale do Paraíba region, in the State of São Paulo. Based on Law 12.651 /
2012 (Forest Code) and the data of the Rural Environmental Cadastre (CAR), downloaded
from the the National Rural Environmental Cadastre System (SICAR), 21,017.8 ha of RL were
mapped as possible areas for SAF systems.
