Study on the low productivity of manioc (Manihot esculenta Crantz), due to insect attacks in the middle Igarapé community, Mocajuba-PA

The objective of this study was to identify the insects that attack the cassava crops of the farmers
residing in the Igarapé do Meio community in the municipality of Mocajuba-PA, where
cassava cultivation is the main economic activity, characterizing the damages caused to this
crop, which Methods and techniques would be used by farmers in crops to assess productivity
loss. The research consisted of a socio-environmental study through interviews directed to 24
families of farmers living in the community, where they found that there is loss of production
due to insect attacks that directly influence the family income and the community does not
receive any technical assistance. The implementation of projects such as the practice of biological
control and management of these pests allowed the increase of the production of cassava
and the operation of the community farinha house that will subsidize the development of the
economy of the family agriculture of that locality.
