Economic viability analysis in agroecosystems: a study of case in Fazenda Ipanema settlement Iperó-SP region
Keywords:
operational costs, familyfarms, profitability, commercialization channelsAbstract
This project analyzed the economic viability of six agroecosystems, three of them used conventional
system and three used agroforestry system, within family farms producers from
settlements in Iperó-sp region. The results showed that the conventional systems could better
distribute the operational costs, meanwhile the agroforestry systems were more labor intensive,
which was a constrictive input to expand the cultivated area, even with land availability.
However, the agroforestry systems presented a lower input relative cost with fertilization and
cultivation and, additionally, they presented a great potential to substitution of acquirable fertilizers
between home-made inputs. Both systems are economically viable and the differences of
profitability are linked to commercialization channels, emphasizing the direct sales.
