Abstract

This research assumes the importante of recueing and creating processes that foster a model
of plant domestication that promotes Sociobiodiversity. Our main objective is to identify priority
native fruit species to foster a process of domestication of plants, in accordance with the principles
of Agroecology, collaborating with farmers of the Agroecology Center Luta Camponesa,
linked to the Agrarian Network of Agroecology (Rede Ecovida), in Brazil. To accomplish that,
we applied Action Research principles and used participatory diagnostics to identify species.
Eleven species with potential to foster the process of plant domestication were identified, seven
of which were considered as priority, being Guabiroba (Campomanesia xanthocarpa) the
one with the greatest potential. Whether by the number of individuals or by the interest of
the farmers. By combining agroecology knowledge and the the knowledge and experience
of farmers, we may promote a model of plant domestication which increases and stimulates
Sociobiodiversity.
