In the Territory of Borborema in the state of Paraíba, farming families usually keep their seeds
of passion in community seed banks. The objective of the research was to monitor community
seed banks in a participatory manner with the farming families and their support organizations,
organizing a diagnosis of the passion seeds stored in the Borborema Territory. There
are currently 60 seed banks, which constitute a network of community seed banks, which has
become an important space for the interaction of families, the articulation of seed banks, the
management and rescue of creole seeds loaded with local agrobiodiversity identities. The
sustainable management of passion seeds is a key public policy mechanism to address the
negative effects of drought and food insecurity in households.
