Community organization for forest products management in Amazonia: the case of Paraíso community in the extractive reserve Verde para Sempre

Communities that depend directly on forests, are related to this resource from different perspectives.
This process has drawn the interest of individuals and companies to occupy the
forests under the domination of communities by increasing conflicts. This is because most of
the time these are the only areas with forest available or because they have a defined land
ownership situation, which makes it possible to carry out logging in a legal way. In the community
of Paraíso, located in the extractivist reserve Verde para Sempre, in Porto de Moz, Pará,
these challenges are being faced with local organization so that the community can implement
its own management plan. The results of the activity carried out to record the experience, timeline,
cleared the importance to reinforce the actions of strengthening of the association to carry
out the guidance of the management plan.
