Reformulating sulfur paste: more effective treatments

Abstract

Scabies is one of the biggest problems in the rabbit sector, a series of cases caused by excessive
traffic inside the animal housing, mainly due to the entry of birds that carry the mite
with them. In order to establish an accessible form of control, less aggressive than commercial
sarnicides, which have alcoholic vehicles and are extremely irritating, and at a lower cost, the
use of sulfur paste, a popular culture drug that has been added to extract Vegetable and propolis,
so that there was potentiation of the antibiotic, anti-inflammatory and drying action. The
preparation of the drug was carried out, joining the constituent elements of the sulfur paste,
and it was applied after previous hygiene to the external ear of the animals affected by psoroptic
mange. Therefore, we obtained rapid tissue regeneration, hair growth and elimination
of secondary infections that may have occurred in due course. Therefore, the new formulation
presents an effective, affordable and inexpensive drug.
