Abstract

During the execution of the “Agroecological Transition Project in the Headwaters of the Rio
Macaé”, a pilot project in the State of Rio de Janeiro, several activities regarding the dissemination
of knowledge in agroecology were developed with farmers from the family farming in the
mountain region. Among them are the six field days with the main objective of promoting the
construction of knowledge for actions in agroecology based on the exchange of experiences
and learning of agroecological practices, starting from the interaction between farmers and technicians.
Through these opportunities farmers have witnessed activities of good practices in
agroecology, which has made it clear how much agroecology benefits and attends to improvement
in the conditions of production, improvement of health conditions, and economic viability
from the introduction of simple techniques, Efficient and self-sustaining.
