Paths for the construction of agroecological knowledge in the state of Tocantins

Abstract

The purpose of this work is to present the paths followed from the creation of the Agroecology
Studies Center towards the construction of agroecological knowledge in the state of Tocantins.
The project of implantation of agroecological practices in the Federal University of Tocantins
consisted in actions articulated with visits to communities in projects of settlements and the
implantation of a demonstrative unit with the garden mandala. The analysis of the results obtained
so far, demonstrates that the project promoted the extension, generated reflection and
expanded the possibilities of new research agendas on the subject. From this analysis it is
concluded that the experiences strengthened the existing social relations in the university and
promoted other practices outside of it.
