Abstract

The management of bacurizeiros is a technique initiated by the family farmers themselves, although
their motives have not been defined. The same results in the increase of the density of
trees / hectare and consequent benefits. The research was carried out at the family unit level,
in the city of Sao Joao da Ponta, Para. Data were collected through a transversal walk, participant
observation and semi-structured questionnaire application. The objective of the research
was to understand the dynamics of land use at the family unit level, as well as to identify the
motivation to carry out management of bacurizeiros. In this unit, the management was initiated
for the implantation of apiaries, main activity of the family. Among the results, it was observed
that the pressure of extractivism has altered the dynamics of bacuri fruit collection. Management
can guarantee the use of interlining for the introduction of other crops that contribute to
the food sovereignty or income increase of the family.
