Terreiro people and construction of agroecological knowledge: notes for a debate

Since the arrival of blacks enslaved to Brazil, undeniably the history of this population is a
history of struggles and resistance. As a result of these processes of struggle and resistance
Afro-descendants managed to protect and build rich immaterial patrimony that until today
marks the diversity of Brazilian society. Among the different dimensions of this patrimony protected
by the black people this article will try to understand, from a bibliographical review and
participant observation2, how these populations maintained their religious traditions, currently
denominated like African religions, and how the founding elements of such religions can Collaborate
with the construction of agroecological knowledge in Brazil.
