Abstract

This work aimed to evaluate the use of Efficient Microorganisms (EM) and straw on the agronomic
growth of Eruca sativa. The experiment was performed at the Department of Agriculture
and Environment of the Instituto Federal do Sudeste de Minas Gerais, Campus Rio Pomba.
The experimental design was a completely randomized blocks, with four treatments and five
replications, with a total of 30 plants per treatment. The treatments were: T1: control (without
EM and straw); T2: EM + straw; T3: EM; T4: straw. Plants with EM and EM + straw had shown
a shorter root growth, probably due to the microorganisms action. In addition, plants with EM
had shown a larger leaf area. Therefore, the use of EM can contribute to the improvement of
agricultural productivity, bringing the necessity of improvement and development of new techniques
of use for these biological cocktails.
