Abstract

The expansion of the organic market requires to evaluate which conditions favor local production
and the access to its products. Thus, the study evaluated the commercialization of organic
products from marketing channels in the city of Vitória (ES). The diversity and prices of organic
products were compared in different establishments. In addition, the prices between organic
and conventional products were compared. According to the results, the greatest diversity was
found at farmers’ market. Analysing prices, in supermarkets, organic products were more expensive
than in farmers’ market and than their equivalent conventional ones. Comparing open
markets, the prices of organic products were higher, lower or equal to conventional prices.
Thus, farmers’ markets from organic family producers seem to be relevant to allow the access
of these products to local consumers, in addition to strengthen family farming and food sovereignty.
