Keywords:

Mucajaí in Roraima has been one of the most deforested municipality in Brazil. However,
little is known about the perception of local actors regarding their environmental problems,
the basis for the construction of public policies of agroecological transition. This issue was
addressed through exposure, discussion, organization and participatory analysis techniques
in a workshop for about 50 participants, with lectures and iterative sessions. Participatively the
factors (or problems) were identified and ordered. The results indicated that forest fires and
deforestation are the main environmental problems of Mucajaí. The low income of family farmers
was discussed and related to (i) agrarian issues; (Ii) lack of technical assistance; (Iii) lack
of schools, health and transportation; and (iv) omission of public managers. The results could
guide public policies focused on ecological transition agriculture in Mucajaí.
