Importance of the twisted fiber of tucumã for the socioeconomic change of women within the Tapajós-Arapiuns Resex
Keywords:

The present work aims to show the work of women artisans from the Tucumã community of
Resex Tapajos-Arapiuns in income generation and environmental preservation. During the
month of July of 2015 a visit was made to survey the stages of the production process. It
was observed that women have a direct relation between extractivism and handicrafts, since
artisanal production needs products such as seeds, wood, vines, etc. The way they organize
themselves has changed the reality of the community since their productions have reached
the national and world scene. In addition, there is a concern with the preservation of the palm
trees, so only the necessary straws are removed so that no waste occurs and in the act of harvest
occurs a rotation of the palm trees, the palm from which the straw was removed from the
previous harvest is spared So that it can regenerate.
