Women and the rescue of popular knowledge about the use of medicinal plants in the Northeast of Paraense

Seeking to rescue knowledge, build knowledge and contribute to the construction of equity in
gender relations among family farmers in the northeastern region of Paraense, the Núcleo de
Estudos, Pesquisa e Extensão em Agricultura Familiar e Agroecologia (NEA), to develop works
of universal extension Agroecology As science, practice and movement, being an important
instrument in this process of exchanges and construction of agroecological knowledge. Thus,
this work seeks to present a university extension of agroecological basis as a tool for valuing
popular knowledge regarding the use of medicinal plants and condiments, as well as to make
the work of peasant women visible in this process. In this way, a theoretical-practical workshop
of Medicinal and Condiment Plants was developed, which gave rise to a demonstration unit of
Medicinal Garden that will be used for the local community and surroundings.
