The great consumption of wood grows gradually in the Amazon, it is notorious in the forest
sector where the transformation of the raw material into the product is observed. The present
work has the purpose of demonstrate the processing of the timber products of itaúba and forest
residues found in the forest and to analyze the income gained from this activity in the community
of Pascoal located in the Tapajós-Arapiuns RESEX in the municipality of Santarém-Pará.
The research data were obtained through interviews made in the community employees who
are directly involved. It was observed that the workers involved in the workshop receive many
orders of canoes, oars and bajaras thus having a large withdrawal of itaúba, and the residues
found are produced benches and tables in formats of animals. However, with this great withdrawal
of itaúba, it has been planned to plant it as an alternative for future generations. And the
income from wood makes about 25% of total income.
