Abstract

Intended to bring reflective elements about an action developed with the Municipal Council for
Food and Nutritional Security (CONSEA) in a municipality in the metropolitan region of Curitiba.
The aim of the action was to initiate a process of construction agroecological knowledge
in an instance with relative decision making power. The meeting introduced the definition and
attributions of CONSEA, as well as its capacity to focus on public actions. Also debated on the
deleterious effects of the hegemonic agrifood system and the relationship between the council
with Food and Nutrition Security, Human Right to Adequate Food, Food Sovereignty and
Agroecology. There was a significant lack of knowledge about the role of the council, as well
as on the transformative potential of agroecology. But, also, a motivation to cause ruptures in
the current agrifood model by drawing up a plan of action, from the point of view of the Human
Right to Adequate Food with emphasis on agroecology.
