Abstract

The caatinga biome preserves a little known biodiversity and presents diverse flora, rich in
medicinal plants, forage, fruit plants. Among the species, the umbuzeiro (Spondias tuberosa
A.) stands out. In order to obtain quality seedlings, it is important to use substrates and must
present developmental conditions to the plant. The objective of the proposal was to evaluate
the effects of the composting of different organic residues on the composition of substrates
for production and development of umbuzeiro seedlings. Initially, composting piles were set
up, after the tanning process the seedlings were started with the different compounds. The
diameter of the colon was analyzed. The design used was the DBC with seven treatments and
four replications. The plot was eight plants. The substrate constituted by vegetal soil + bovine
manure compound provided better growth rates in the umbilical cord diameter.
