Abstract

Community gardens are ways of growing vegetables by families that integrate associations
through the neighborhood or street, ensuring access to fresh vegetables and pulses free or for
a low value. The importance of this organization is because ensures a healthier eating, free of
pesticides. The experience report had as objective to experience the dynamics in the routine of
a community garden of the Housing Company (COHAB I) in Lavras-MG, which emerged by an
initiative of the city hall, and thus to know the existing agroecological practices. Two years ago,
the garden became an association, with approximately 50 members. Currently, they are in an
agroecological transition, and advanced in some questions regarding the modes of production
and social organization, but more capacitation is necessary.
