Abstract

This study aims to analyze sustainable development in the municipality of Coronel Barros, in
the northwest region of the state of Rio Grande do Sul, considering the environmental dimension
in the milk activity in the locality of Rincão dos Pampas. The research was carried out by
means of information gathering with the farmers, was classified as a bibliographic research
with descriptive and exploratory character also characterized as case study and observation.
The study aimed to verify the main negative impacts that the dairy cattle can cause to the environment,
for such a small property located in the locality served as field for the investigation
and proposed suggestions for the problems encountered. Finally, the research detected the
relevance of the milk system for the social reproduction and economic development of the locality,
and the results of the research led to the understanding that milk production can cause
several impacts to the environment, however, these can be Minimized by adopting appropriate
techniques.
