Agroecological plots: an opportunity for the development of new capacities in producers and technicians

The aim of the experiment was to carry out a piece of ground of agroecological transition in
situ by means of the participatory action research method with farmers of the locality of Santa
Clara, Jujuy, extension technicians of the Rural Extension Agency San Pedro de Jujuy (INTA)
and teachers- Researchers from the Faculty of Agricultural Sciences (UNJu), in parallel were
training workshops, transfer of self-production protocols, quality control and use of agroecological
technology. The design included as main crop the tomato, in consociation with: carrot,
corn, beet, cucurbit, cucumber and leafy vegetables. From the technical-productive, the yield
results were equivalent to those obtained in previous campaigns, but the production cost was
significantly lower, contributing to new direct marketing channels from the producer to the consumer.
New skills were developed in both the technicians involved and the producer.
