The paper reports an experiment in the implantation of a suspended building site, built by
members of a community association, in a riverine community of várzea, where the production
of short and medium cycle vegetables, was used in a structure that is easy to replicate and
adapted to the local reality to be used throughout the year, including flood periods of the Solimões
River. The stages of the project were carried out from the community involvement, which
allowed to achieve positive results and to enable the production of vegetables in the local
market. In addition, there was the sensitization of the residents to the importance of collective
work organization and the non-use of chemical inputs. The proposal is likely to be replicated
in the region and will contribute to maintaining productive regularity during flood periods. The
lessons learned from this experience were positive, mainly because this proposal was built in
a participatory way for all the actors involved.
