Concern about health and environmental impact is the main factor that drives consumers to
seek organic products. Faced with the demands of this rising market, it is necessary to know
the segments and motivations that involve the production, commercialization and consumption
of organic products in the region. This report aims to expose the experiences built up over two
years of practical observation with consumers and organic producers at the Petrolina-PE fair.
The results presented in this work are the result of information obtained through weekly visits
to organic fairs, participation in producer meetings, events and in actions to raise awareness
of the population. The dialogue between producers, consumers and the academic community
is of great importance for the development and sharing of new technologies agroecologies,
with positive effects on the production, commercialization and future actions to consolidate this
growing market in the sub-region of the São Francisco Valley.
