Abstract

This work reports the experience of students of the course of agronomy of IFPA - Campus
Castanhal during the field internship held in the municipality of Irituia-PA, from March 20 to 29,
2017. The intention of the experiment is to promote immersion of the students in rural areas,
enabling them to make an interdisciplinary connection of theory with the reality of the farmers,
and to understand in a systemic way the relation between the Amazonian biophysical environment
and the man. In the community of São Brás do Semper Vivo it was possible, through the
experience and use of methodologies, to observe the peculiarities, strengths and difficulties
present in the production of food. From the observations made, the process of changing a
cattle breeding system in large pastures for the practice of organic horticulture was highlighted.
The experience has contributed to the process of professional training, as regards the ability to
be critical when faced with the most different situations in professional life.
