Abstract

Experience is a process of management of medium-term agroecology with a cooperative. Demonstrative
agroecological modules were designed to conserve soil and water due to depletion
of springs, current contamination, water erosion, fertility decline and pollution. The causes
are the reduction of shade in coffee plantations, specialization of the nurseries, irrigation with
tubed water, manure management. The modules were started in 2015 with support from the
Fondo Mexicano para la Conservación de la naturaleza. They include technologies to harvest
rainwater, to reproduce multipurpose trees, to handle biodigestors, to compost waste, to plant
living barriers and to enrich the shade of coffee plantations. Cooperatives are rural promoters
who manage agroecological technologies and disseminate them in training events. The lessons
learned are related to the accompaniment of management processes, the formation of
human capital and the family participation.
