Abstract

The Jequitinhonha valley stands out in the production of cassava mainly by family farmers, a
region also marked by frequent periods of drought, causing the farmers to look for alternatives
for human and animal feeding. Therefore, some species of the genus Manihot show high resistance
to drought and tolerance to poor and acidic soils, as well as high nutritional value and
high productive potential. The objective of this work was to evaluate the agronomic characteristics
and to carry out the transfer of technology of 8 cultivars of cassava, 4 of table and 4 of industry,
cultivated by farmers of the Jequitinhonha valley and selected by Embrapa researchers.
