Abstract

This work aims to report on the experience of agroecological transition experienced by the
Tinter family in the municipality of Brasil Novo in the State of Pará, characterizing the agroecological
principles used in the production systems and family life history. The Zeferino family
composed by Mrs. Dercília Zeferino and Mr. José, known as “Cido”, and two sons were pioneers
and innovators in the development of agroecological experiences in the Transamazonica
region, but they died early in 2014 and 2016 respectively. The activities developed by the family
were based on the production of organic cacao in agroforestry systems. In addition to developing
sustainable production experiences, the family shared its “agro-ecological knowledge”
with all segments of society, being considered as a reference in respect for the use of natural
resources in our region.
