Abstract

In a context of ecological crisis and aggravation of the environmental problems of conventional agriculture, urban agriculture has been pointed out as a strategy to strengthen food and nutritional security. This work aimed to evaluate the Brazilian scientific production if urban agriculture can contribute to food and nutritional security from the agroecological perspective. Scientific articles published in periodicals indexed between the years of 2009 and 2018 were the basis of the study. Accessed 612 articles were selected 34. The results demonstrate that agrobiodiversity is present in areas where urban agriculture is practiced and the use of pesticides is a reality in a crop plot. Urban agriculture must be based on agroecology, avoiding environmental contamination and the production of healthy food.
