The importance of visits as an accompaniment and learning tool: training program for young peasant family farmers, UFRPE

The present report intends to highlight the importance of the follow-up visits that are made
to the young participants in the Program for the Training of Young Farmers, from the Federal
Rural University of Pernambuco (UFRPE) and its partners, FETAPE, PJR and SABIA. This
report will specifically deal with with the follow-up of the young Ana Alice, a resident of the
Quilombola Settlement of the Engenho Siqueira, located in Rio Formoso, Mata Sul of the State
of Pernambuco. This monitoring instrument through visits has been important in the process
of building the program, serving as an approximation of the members of the pedagogical team
with young peasants, in which the pedagogical team is building an agroecological knowledge
base with the local population. This team has as a guiding principle the experience with the local
inhabitants, seeking to connect the Academy to the Field, exchanging knowledge to strengthen
the permanence of the young peasants, with the purpose o reducing the rural exodus and
specially aiming to strengthen the self-esteem of these individuals and his socio-economical
development.
