Abstract

Amapá is a state marked by its socio-biodiversity that brings together indigenous peoples, quilombolas, extractivists, riverine people, fishermen, family farmers in a territory with 73% of protected areas, covered by forests, savannahs, floodplains, mangroves, river islands and coastal zone . About 31 thousand people live in rural establishments, the vast majority (90%) of small farms with cassava (55%) and açaí (64%) as their main crops. In 2017 the Peapos-AP participatory construction process begins, with three seminars in rural territories held in 2018, with the participation of 388 representatives of family agriculture from 11 out of the 16 state districts. This report intends to tell the history of the process that is under way, to present the main results of the tapping and to reflect on the lessons learned and challenges still remaining in order to achieve this important regulatory framework.
