Abstract

As in the state of Tocantins there are no organic producers registered in the MAPA register, know the process of construction of agroecological knowledge in the territory with a focus on economic, social, environmental and political dimensions, it is necessary to understand what has been developing in the state agroecology and organic production. The methodology was based on documentary analysis through articles, interviews, testimonies, materials and other types of information related to agroecology, organic agriculture or sustainable agricultural development. The lack of knowledge about the application and results of agroecological management was observed, which makes many producers feel unmotivated to initiate changes in their management. The individual action of producers in traditional agricultural activities fomented by public policies (MATOPIBA) makes it difficult to organize producers for new enterprises, with other principles and criteria regulated in Brazil and in the world. The use of the aerial application of agrochemicals in large crops can make organic production unfeasible. There is a need for articulation between the main institutions in Tocantins, public and private, from the municipal to the federal sphere, already active in promoting agroecology and local organic agriculture, to integrate efforts from production to commercialization and consumption.
