Abstract

The problem of food insecurity affects a considerable part of the Brazilian population and has
been worsening due to the levels of poverty, unemployment and low wages. The objective
of this work is to assist and promote productive backyards as a way to improve the quality of
life of the families of the settleds. The project in question is being developed in the Murtura
community, which is located in the Rural Zone of São Luís - MA, and it is being executed in
the form application of questionnaires and workshops carried in the properties, by means of
informatives, with Prediction of field days on reference properties in the region, as well as in
technical monitoring on the properties of the selected families. Throughout the application of
questionnaires and thematic workshops it was noticed that the Murtura community is in full
growth and development and cultivate only for its own subsistence.
