Agricultural production driven by the Green Revolution in Brazil has drastically changed production and consumption of food. Paradoxically, coexist with this model alternative and subversive ways of conceiving and living the relationship with food, and with nature in a broader way. For the people of African Matrix religions, food is sacred. It is one of the elements that makes possible the connection between orun and ayê, between the abode of the deities and our abode. This paper maps some elements in which the traditional knowledge of terreiro peoples coincide with the principles of agroecological knowledge, explaining the links between agroecology and ancestry. At the same time, it seeks to make visible the fragilization of the ways of life of African religious communities, from which the capitalist project undermines the autonomy of these communities.
