Abstract

Pigeon bean is a legume of high genetic variability, rustic, tolerant to water stress and low soil fertility. The present research was carried out with the objective of performing a physical characterization of seeds of guava bean varieties, selecting efficient morphological descriptors to distinguish them. For this, the morphological descriptors were evaluated for shape, size and color of the seed. Characteristics such as water content and weight of 100 seeds were also considered for the physical quality evaluation. The varieties of pigeon pea seeds showed high phenotypic variation, expressed mainly in the descriptors size and color of the seed.
