What is the scenario of organic production in Brazil? Approximations based on secondary data from the Agricultural Census and the National Register of Organic Producers

Abstract

The advance of organic food production and consumption networks is remarkable. Given the diverse orientations that have been motivating this phenomenon, we find, at both extremes, those associated with market niches and, on the other hand, initiatives related to the establishment of sustainable agrifood systems. Therefore, the objective of this article consisted in the construction of a database, using as main sources the National Register of Organic Producers (CNPO) and the Agricultural Census (2017).
