Keywords:

Non-formal environmental education is a key tool to sensitize farmers about socio-environmental
issues and promote sustainable management practices. This work analyzes the effects
of environmental education, provided by agroecological transition and participatory approach,
among the producers participating in the SAF Juçara Project carried out by the NGO Versta, in
partnership with Núcleo de Agroecologia Apetê-Caapuã, in relation to conventional producers
in Rio Preto district, Sete Barras – SP. The district is located in the buffer zone of Carlos Botelho
State Park, with monoculture areas of pupunha palm and banana. The results point to a
greater understanding of transition families about what is conservation and the role of agriculture
in this, as well as a possible relationship between residence time and the agroecological
transition, showing the need for reinforcement and continuity of environmental education.
