Abstract

The Environment Week at IFMG – campus Santa Luzia, was an event that allowed debates
on issues such as agroecology and edible landscaping. In this context, teachers and students
who shared interests in questioning the “nature” of the urban and the land uses of the city,
perceived the agroecology theory as tool to create practices and spaces to the community and
IFMG exchange experiences among themselves.
With the objective of creating differentiated spaces of knowledge construction, the idea arises
of establishing a communitary organic garden in the Institute. The construction of flowerbeds
and the planting of vegetables was the way to develop agroecological awareness, promoting
actions that would later promote extension projects dedicated to the mapping and registration
of small farmers in the region and the multiplication of the school organic garden.
