A construção da agroecologia no Instituto Federal do Rio Grande do Sul

This article describes how the construction of knowledge in agroecology is a transformative pedagogical action grounded in participatory processes. Based on institutional experiences that dialogue with critical popular education, the article demonstrates the potential of integrated activities between teaching, research, and extension in agroecology. The text prioritize relevant actions in the Agroecological Framework at the Federal Institute of Rio Grande do Sul: the Regional Forums for the presentation of the Agroecological Institutional Policy, the EcoViamão Project and the postgraduate specialization in Agroecology. We demonstrate how participatory methodologies create distinct processes of agroecological knowledge development, establish procedures for mutual learning, and transform the values of agroecology for the sustainable development.
