Cistern of plaques in the University: social technologies in the construction of a contextualized and participative education
Keywords:
Agroecology, Participatory methodologies, Water autonomyAbstract
The lack of training spaces with participatory methodologies is a reality in most public educational
institutions in Brazil. The agroecological perspective is of an extensionist practice as a
vehicle for transforming action, really directed towards social utility. Plate Cisterns are social
technologies that have emerged to solve the problem of storing rainwater in semi-arid regions
of Brazil. As we are part of this climatic context, the present project arises from the need to
generate water autonomy within the Agroecology Reference Unit (URA), of the Field Education
and Agroecology Movement (MECA / UFPB) and provide a space for collective training and
construction of knowledge. Due to its collaborative nature, the CU project was conceived by
the Laboratory of Studies in Water and Territory Management (LEGAT / UFPB) and carried out
in partnership with MECA. The project also had the support of other institutions and entities.
