The monitoring is an activity of pedagogical support that aims to provide the possibility of
development of techniques and skills, as well as a theoretical deepening, which consequently
generates the academic improvement of the monitor. The monitoring activity in question was
carried out from October 2016 to February 2017 at the IFPE Campus in the city of Vitoria de
Santo Antão in the Bachelor of Agronomy course in a class from the IV Period with a total of 22
students in the discipline Of Agroecology. This is a descriptive study with a quantitative approach.
After the monitoring period, an online questionnaire was drawn up with the members of
the class, which was based on the degree of importance with the following question: What
degree of importance do you attribute to monitoring in Agroecology for your understanding of
the subject? important; 2) Not important; 3) Indifferent; 4) is important; 5) Very Important. The
population of the research was 23 students, all duly enrolled in the discipline. It can be verified,
first and foremost, that the activity contributed to the monitor evaluating his role as an active
and participatory agent in the teaching and learning process of his colleagues. The monitoring activity, for those who seek it has a significant effect on their understanding of the subject
addressed, besides stimulating a higher frequency of students and several paradigm breaks.
In addition, it is possible to emphasize that the monitoring surpasses the sense of a simple
accompaniment, since it makes it possible to systematically follow the development process
of the student.
