Abstract

The performance of maxixe seedlings on different substrates was evaluated. The experiment
was carried out in Santa Teresa - ES and consisted of seven treatments and three replicates,
distributed as follows: T1: earthenware (TB) + Shredded Fern (ST) + Bovine manure (EB) (2:
1: 1) ; T2: TB + ST + EB (1: 2: 1); T3: TB + ST + Earthworm humus (H) (2: 1: 1) T4: TB + ST +
H (1: 2: 1); T5 = TB + ST + Organic compound (CO) (2: 1: 1) T6 = TB + ST + CO (1: 2: 1); T7:
Commercial substrate. The fresh masses of shoot and root, plant height, number of leaves and
root length were evaluated. Only for fresh shoot mass there was a significant difference, and
the TB + ST + EB (2: 1: 1) treatment values were higher than the commercial substrate. The
alternative substrates tested can replace the commercial agricultural substrate in the production
of maxixe seedlings.
