Abstract

This paper presents the participatory process of rescue, valorization and innovation of traditional
practices of cassava in the local chickens raising. The methodology followed the action-research
procedures. The importance of cassava as a multifunctional component of poultry farming
systems was evidenced. Among the main functions performed, it is highlighted the living
fence and the diversity of cassava by-products for the birds’ food, allowing their integral use.
