Implantation and Management of Agroforestry System in a degraded area of Embrapa Milho e Sorgo

This report brings the experience of the practical course of implantation of the Agroforestry
System of organic base coordinated by the Agroecology Nucleus of Embrapa Milho e Sorgo
and the Technological Vocational Center in Agroecology and Organic Production Guayi of the
Federal University of São João del-Rei - Campus Sete Lagoas. The course was held in August
2016, at the Embrapa Milho e Sorgo Experimental Farm, located at Road MG 424, km 65, Sete
Lagoas / MG. It was attended by 44 Embrapa employees, students from UFSJ - CSL, Emater-
MG technicians and rural producers. The Agroforestry System considers the ecological
succession in the process of concomitant cultivation of several species of vegetables, trees
and fruits. At the same time, it contributes to the recovery of degraded areas and to the conservation
of soil and water in the system. The paper stresses the importance of the participation
of Embrapa Milho e Sorgo employees in the construction of this agroecological experience.
