Abstract

The work was conducted in a rural community located in the Iranduba locality, Amazon state, and it sought to make a qualitative analysis on information access, specifically on organic agriculture legislation. The survey participants were mostly male (70%), with a mean age of 47 years, and the predominant level of education was incomplete elementary school (64%). It was verified that the actors of the community of Caldeirão demonstrated little knowledge about organic agriculture. However, it was verified they had contact directly or indirectly with some type of information on the subject. We emphasize the importance of access to schooling as a propeller of access to information, so that a future generation of farmers may become aware of it. In order to do this, it is necessary to educate the children and young people of the locality, so as to have a scenario with farmers with greater autonomy to give their opinion on the themes that are directly related to their daily lives.
